IIFA 2025: Kareena Kapoor Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Grandfather Raj Kapoor With Iconic Performance

Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan stole the spotlight at the IIFA Awards 2025 in Jaipur, not just with her stunning presence but also with a heartfelt tribute to her legendary grandfather, Raj Kapoor. The actress performed some of his most iconic songs, creating a nostalgic moment for the audience.

A Tribute to the Showman

As part of IIFA’s Silver Jubilee celebration, Kareena paid homage to Raj Kapoor by recreating his signature step from the timeless classic “Mera Joota Hai Japani” while dressed in a suit, just like her grandfather. The official IIFA Instagram handle shared the video, writing, “We’re truly in love with this beautiful tribute to Raj Kapoor for our Silver Jubilee celebration.”

Kareena also channeled vintage Bollywood charm with a mesmerizing performance on “Pyar Hua Ikraar Hua”, a romantic track originally picturized on Raj Kapoor and Nargis. The official IIFA account shared the clip, praising her performance with the caption: “Poo ki performance ko hum denge 10/10 score – There is simply no one like Kareena Kapoor Khan!”

Another highlight of the night was Kareena’s energetic dance to “Jhoot Bole Kauva Kate”, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the event.

A Legacy Remembered

The tribute comes just months after the Kapoor family hosted a special film festival in December 2024 to commemorate Raj Kapoor’s birth centenary. Kareena attended the event alongside Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Neetu Kapoor, and other Kapoor family members, celebrating the cinematic legacy of the legendary filmmaker-actor.

Raj Kapoor: A Cinematic Icon

Known as the “Showman of Indian Cinema,” Raj Kapoor revolutionized Bollywood with classics like Awaara, Shree 420, Bobby, and Mera Naam Joker. His impact was recognized internationally, with Awaara and Boot Polish making their mark at the Cannes Film Festival, and Jagte Raho winning the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. His contributions earned him prestigious accolades, including the Padma Bhushan (1971) and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1988).

Kareena Kapoor’s moving tribute at IIFA 2025 was a reminder of the Kapoor family’s deep-rooted legacy in Indian cinema and a celebration of Raj Kapoor’s enduring influence on Bollywood.
