Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda has opened up about facing conspiracies and challenges within the film industry, alleging that people tried to push him out of Bollywood. In a candid conversation with Mukesh Khanna on his YouTube channel Bheeshm International, Govinda revealed that he had been the target of industry politics, defamation, and even life-threatening situations.
Govinda on Rejecting Big Projects
Govinda, who has been away from films for several years, recalled a time when he had no work but still turned down multiple film offers. “When they were writing that I didn’t have work, I had actually turned down films worth ₹100 crore. I would look in the mirror and slap myself for refusing that money,” he said. The actor admitted that these roles were similar to the ones that are now popular in Bollywood but maintained that staying true to his instincts was his priority.
Bollywood Conspiracy and Life Threats
Govinda further claimed that there was a deliberate plan to sideline him from the industry. “I went through a defamation phase, and it was pre-planned. They wanted to remove me from the industry,” he said, adding that his outsider status may have played a role.
He also made shocking revelations about facing life threats, stating, “Jab mere saath shariantra shuru hue, maranpryog shuru hue. Ghar ke bahar bahut saare log gun ke saath pakde gaye, bahut saare log marne ke alag alag tareeke nikalne lage.” (When conspiracies against me began, even attempts on my life started. Many people were caught outside my house with guns, and different methods to eliminate me were being devised.)
Govinda also shared that these events changed his personality, making him reconsider his decisions, including entering politics.
Govinda’s Last Film and Upcoming Projects
Govinda was last seen in Rangeela Raja (2019), a comedy film that failed at the box office. The actor, however, remains hopeful about his return to the big screen. In a recent appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, he confirmed having three projects in the pipeline.
Personal Life and Divorce Rumors
Apart from his professional struggles, Govinda’s personal life also made headlines recently. Rumors surfaced about his divorce from wife Sunita Ahuja, but their lawyer clarified that although Sunita had filed for divorce six months ago, the couple has since reconciled.
