Sunny Deol’s blockbuster movie, ‘Gadar 2,’ which stormed into theaters on August 11, is now poised to break the ₹500 crore barrier at the domestic box office. According to reports from Sacnilk.com, the film has already amassed a staggering ₹493 crore, and it’s just a matter of time before it joins the elite ₹500 crore club.
As per early estimates, ‘Gadar 2’ raked in ₹6 crore nett on its 23rd day in India, contributing to its impressive earnings. The film’s journey to this financial milestone has been nothing short of spectacular, with collections of ₹284.63 crore in the first week, ₹134.47 crore in the second week, and ₹63.35 crore in the third week. The cumulative domestic box office collection now stands at ₹493.65 crore, a mere ₹6.35 crore away from the coveted ₹500 crore mark.
In celebration of this monumental achievement, Sunny Deol hosted a success party for ‘Gadar 2’ on a memorable Saturday night. The event saw a galaxy of Bollywood stars in attendance, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Anupam Kher. Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Shilpa Shetty, Sara Ali Khan, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, and Ananya Panday, among others, also graced the occasion with their presence.
‘Gadar 2,’ directed by Anil Sharma, made a spectacular start by grossing ₹40.1 crore on its opening day, securing its position as the second-best opener of 2023, just behind Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan.’ Currently, it ranks as the third highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), highlighted the film’s impressive achievements, stating, “Crosses KGF 2, next Baahubali 2… After crossing lifetime biz of #Dangal, #Gadar2 overtakes #KGF2 #Hindi… #Gadar2 is now the third highest-grossing #Hindi film in #India… Continues to smash #BO records at mass sectors…”
‘Gadar 2’ is the sequel to the 2001 hit ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,’ where Sunny Deol portrayed the character of Tara Singh, a truck driver, and Ameesha Patel played Sakeena. The film’s narrative unfolds against the backdrop of India’s partition in 1947, and ‘Gadar 2’ picks up the story as Tara Singh embarks on a daring mission to rescue his son, played by Utkarsh Sharma, who has been captured in Pakistan.
As ‘Gadar 2’ inches closer to the monumental ₹500 crore milestone, it continues to captivate audiences and leave an indelible mark on the Bollywood box office.
