National Award-winning actor Dhanush recently took to social media to unveil the first poster of his upcoming movie, which delves into the life of legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja. The film, aptly titled “Ilaiyaraaja,” is set to showcase the extraordinary journey of the maestro, known for his iconic contributions to Indian music.
Directed by Arun Matheswaran, who previously collaborated with Dhanush on “Captain Miller,” the biopic promises to be a cinematic tribute to Ilaiyaraaja’s illustrious career spanning over five decades. Dhanush, who will essay the role of the veteran music composer, expressed his honor and excitement in a heartfelt caption accompanying the poster release on social media, stating, “Honoured @ilaiyaraaja sir.”
The announcement event for the film’s poster was graced by the presence of not just Dhanush and Ilaiyaraaja but also acclaimed actor Kamal Haasan, adding further grandeur to the occasion. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared insights into the event, highlighting the significance of the biopic’s announcement with the caption, “ILAIYARAAJA BIOPIC: ILAIYARAAJA, KAMAL HAASAN, DHANUSH GRACE GRAND ANNOUNCEMENT EVENT.”
“Ilaiyaraaja” aims to delve deep into the life and times of the music maestro, who has composed over 7,000 songs for more than 1,000 films and has performed over 20,000 concerts globally. Ilaiyaraaja’s contributions to Indian cinema have earned him prestigious honors such as the Padma Bhushan in 2010 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2018, recognizing his immense impact on music and culture.
The biopic, set to be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages, is backed by Connekkt Media, PK Prime Production, and Mercuri Movies. The production boasts a talented team of producers including Sriram Bakthisaran, C K Padma Kumar, Varun Mathur, Ilamparithy Gajendran, and Saurabh Mishra. Additionally, Nirav Shah has been appointed as the director of photography, promising a visually captivating narrative.
Apart from “Ilaiyaraaja,” Dhanush fans can also anticipate his other projects such as “Raayan,” which he has written and directed, and filmmaker Sekhar Kammula’s “Kubera,” where he shares the screen with Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh.
