A Delhi-based content creator, Nishu Tiwari, recently attempted to enjoy a free meal at a luxury hotel by pretending to be a guest. However, her ploy was exposed, and she ended up paying ₹3,600 for the breakfast she had already eaten.
The Attempt at a Free Meal
As part of her ‘Unethical Life Hacks’ series, Tiwari dressed in pyjamas and carried a hotel robe to blend in as a guest at a five-star hotel in Delhi’s upscale Chanakyapuri area. She even provided a fake room number, which the hotel staff accepted without question, allowing her and a team member to access the breakfast buffet.
How She Got Caught
Tiwari almost pulled off the stunt, but her team member forgot their phone inside the breakfast area. When the hotel staff tried to contact the room number she had given, they discovered that a different guest was staying there. Confronted by staff, Tiwari initially claimed they had mistakenly gone to the wrong hotel. Eventually, she admitted the truth and paid for the meal.
Speaking about the incident, Tiwari told HT.com that even the hotel staff laughed at the situation, surprised that she had managed to trick them so easily.
Mixed Reactions to the Viral Video
Tiwari shared a video of the entire experience on social media, sparking a mix of reactions. While some viewers found it amusing, others criticized her for promoting unethical behavior.
One Instagram user commented, “It is possible you made this video as a joke, but it might encourage others to do the same. Why promote such ideas?” Another user questioned the authenticity of the stunt, suggesting that the hotel might have been informed in advance. However, Tiwari denied any prior arrangement with the hotel and claimed that staff usually do not stop guests from filming.
