Global music sensation Coldplay’s upcoming concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25, 2025, has created a wave of excitement—and steep hotel prices. Fans have taken to social media to express their astonishment at the skyrocketing rates of accommodations in Ahmedabad for the concert night.
A video shared by an X (formerly Twitter) user, Ujval Chopra, highlighted hotel prices exceeding ₹50,000 for January 25. “Thought I’ll book a hotel room and keep it just in case I manage to get the tickets for Coldplay in Ahmedabad. The prices just skyrocketed,” he remarked. The video showcases exorbitant hotel rates on booking platforms.
Another user, Chayan Jain, noted, “Last year stayed in [a hotel] for just ₹2,500/day. For 26th Jan, it’s showing ₹1.17 lakh. What a jump in price after the Coldplay announcement.”
Fans Suggest Alternative Solutions
The surge in demand has led fans to brainstorm ways to save on accommodation. One user suggested, “No hotel in Ahmedabad for 24-25 Jan costs less than ₹50,000. Pro-tip for people going to Coldplay: stay in Vadodara and commute to Ahmedabad.”
Another fan echoed the sentiment: “Hotel rates have already skyrocketed for 25/26th in Ahmedabad. Planning to stay outside the city might be a better option.”
Coldplay’s Announcement
Coldplay’s official X handle shared the news of their Ahmedabad concert, calling it their “biggest ever show.” The band will perform at the Narendra Modi Stadium as part of their Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025.
Tickets for the concert go on sale on November 16 at 12 PM IST. The Ahmedabad show is the fourth addition to Coldplay’s India tour, following three sold-out shows on January 18, 19, and 20 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The Bigger Picture
While the announcement has thrilled fans, the sharp spike in accommodation costs has left many grappling with affordability concerns. The concert, which promises to draw massive crowds to Ahmedabad, is not just a musical spectacle but also a major economic event, driving demand for local businesses, including hotels.
