Bhumi Pednekar Unveils Riveting Trailer for 'Bhakshak': A Gritty Tale of Justice and Courage

In a compelling revelation, Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar is set to dazzle audiences with her upcoming film, “Bhakshak,” where she portrays the role of Vaishali Singh, an investigative journalist on a mission to expose the harrowing truth behind the sexual assault of girls in a shelter home. The much-anticipated trailer, released on Wednesday, offers a glimpse into the intense narrative directed by Pulkit.

The film sheds light on the dark underbelly of a girl’s shelter home, masterfully run by Aditya Srivastava, essaying the character of Bansi Sahu. Bhumi’s character, Vaishali Singh, decides to take on the challenging task of revealing the painful realities within, despite facing opposition and cautionary advice from those around her. “Bhakshak” draws inspiration from true events, adding a layer of authenticity to the narrative.

Supported by an ensemble cast including Sanjay Mishra, Sai Tamhankar, and Surya Sharma, “Bhakshak” is produced under the esteemed banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, with Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma at the helm. Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan took to Instagram to share the trailer, emphasizing the film’s significance by stating, “A story of resilience that needs to be told. Bhakshak, a film inspired by true events, releasing on 9th February, only on Netflix.”

In an interview with news agency ANI, Bhumi Pednekar shared her thoughts on stepping into the challenging role of a journalist. She acknowledged the difficulty of the profession, stating, “Journalism is a difficult career…it needs a lot of courage to ask the right questions, especially to the people who are in power.” Pednekar saluted journalists for their fearlessness and integrity, expressing her honor in portraying such a character on screen.

Reflecting on the challenging aspects of working on “Bhakshak,” the actress emphasized the sensitivity and gravity of the film’s theme. “The film asks questions at a core level that is bound to shake one’s conscience. I hope the film sparks conversations that lead to meaningful change. The film sheds light on the crimes against the children,” she added.
