Rapper Badshah has issued a statement refuting allegations of his involvement in a traffic violation incident after videos surfaced showing a Mahindra Thar, allegedly part of his convoy, speeding on the wrong side of the road. The viral footage, reportedly captured following a concert in Gurugram, led to a fine of ₹15,000 being imposed for rash driving, playing loud music, and driving on the wrong side of the road.
On Wednesday, Badshah took to Instagram to clarify his stance, stating, “Neither do I have a Thar, nor was I driving that day. I was being driven in a white Vellfire, and we always drive responsibly.”
The incident occurred after Badshah’s surprise performance at singer-songwriter Karan Aujla’s concert on December 15. The Thar in question was reportedly registered in the name of Deepender Malik, a Panipat resident, according to reports from news agency PTI.
Badshah’s team issued a statement categorically denying the allegations, labeling them “defamatory.” The statement read, “We are addressing recent defamatory reports and false accusations regarding a traffic incident involving Badshah following the Karan Aujla concert on December 15th, 2024, in the Delhi NCR region. These reports allege that Badshah was involved in a traffic violation, specifically driving on the wrong side of the road. We want to unequivocally state that this allegation is completely false.”
Furthermore, the statement clarified that “no fine was levied” on any vehicle associated with the rapper or his team, as per ANI. The team also expressed confidence in their transportation provider and its professionally licensed drivers.
The controversy surrounding the alleged traffic violation highlights the challenges celebrities often face in addressing misinformation and maintaining their public image amidst viral claims.
