Apoorva Mukhija Breaks Silence on 'India’s Got Latent' Controversy With New YouTube Video ‘Till I Say It Is’

Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, released her first YouTube video addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding her appearance on the now-infamous episode of India’s Got Latent. The video, titled ‘Till I Say It Is’, premiered on her official channel at 6 pm on Wednesday, April 9.

This marks Mukhija’s first in-depth public response since the backlash erupted over the episode of India’s Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina, which also featured YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Jaspreet Singh, and digital creator Ashish Chanchlani. The episode drew widespread criticism for certain remarks deemed obscene and offensive, leading to legal action and an investigation by the National Commission for Women (NCW) and the police.

Among the most widely condemned comments was a sexually suggestive question posed by Ranveer Allahbadia to a contestant regarding their parents. Apoorva Mukhija was also accused of making objectionable remarks during the episode, which premiered in February. She, along with other panelists and producers Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, was summoned by authorities for questioning.

Mukhija, who commands a following of over 3 million on Instagram, is well known for her candid ‘Story Time’ videos where she refers to her fans as her “cute little red flags.” Her latest video directly tackles the controversy and reflects on her experience during and after the backlash.

A day prior to the video’s release, Mukhija took to Instagram to share the hate she’s received in the form of rape and death threats. She posted multiple screenshots of disturbing messages, with a caption warning viewers:
“Trigger Warning: This post contains mentions of acid attacks, rape threats and death threats.”
She added, “And that’s not even 1% (sic),” highlighting the scale of the harassment.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, returned to social media last week. In a statement, he assured his followers that he would be more mindful about the content he puts out. The Supreme Court had previously labeled his comments on the show as “vulgar” and remarked that he had a “dirty mind,” granting him interim protection from arrest on February 18.

The India’s Got Latent controversy continues to unfold with the matter under legal scrutiny. Apoorva Mukhija’s video is expected to spark further discussion among her fanbase and the wider digital community.
