Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has candidly addressed an issue that has affected his career: unpaid dues from producers. In a recent interview on the show Sarfiri Baatein with host Ghazal Alagh, Kumar shared his personal experience of being financially “cheated” in the industry.
The discussion came during a promotional event for his latest film, Sarfira, which was released on July 12 and also stars Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal. Kumar, known for his forthrightness, revealed that despite his successful career, he has encountered situations where his payments were withheld by producers. He mentioned, without naming specific individuals, that he chooses to distance himself from those who fail to honor their financial commitments.
“This is something we have in common,” Kumar said, referring to his and Alagh’s shared view on the unacceptability of cheating. “Main uske baad main usse baat hi nahin karta, chup ho jaata hoon apna side mein nikal jaata hoon… ek do producers ki payment nahin aati hain and that is cheating only…” he explained, translating to: “I just don’t talk to that person, who cheats me. I go quiet… It has happened to me. A few producers haven’t cleared my dues.”
