“Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ Scores Big, Crosses ₹25 Crore Milestone on Day 6 at Box Office”

Ajay Devgn’s sports drama “Maidaan” continues its steady stride at the box office, earning ₹0.39 crore on its sixth day of release. The film’s total domestic box office collection has now reached ₹23.89 crore across languages, showcasing a 6.08% Hindi Occupancy on Tuesday, according to Sacnilk. “Maidaan” is based on the inspiring life of Syed Abdul Rahim, the legendary coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 to 1963, with Priyamani and Nitanshi Goel playing pivotal roles alongside Devgn.

Despite facing competition from “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, Devgn remained optimistic about the simultaneous release of both films. He remarked, “We are all like a family, we are friends. We are not looking at it like a clash, we are looking at it like a big weekend and both the films will do well.”

While the film has received mixed reviews, with film critic Saibal Chatterjee awarding it 2 out of 5 stars, “Maidaan” has been praised for Devgn’s restrained yet commanding portrayal of Syed Abdul Rahim. Chatterjee noted, “Played with admirable restraint by Ajay Devgn, the character of Rahim towers over everything and everyone else in the film.”

Despite criticisms about pacing and thematic depth, “Maidaan” continues to resonate with audiences, especially those inspired by real-life sports narratives. Backed by Zee Studios, Bayview Projects, and Fresh Lime Films, the film’s box office success underscores the enduring appeal of sports dramas in Indian cinema.
