Vikas Bahl’s horror mystery film “Shaitaan,” starring Ajay Devgn, Madhavan, and Jyotika, continues to make waves at the box office, crossing the ₹111 crore mark in its domestic collections. The film, which hit theaters on March 8, has garnered significant attention and praise for its gripping storyline and stellar performances.
On its thirteenth day since release, “Shaitaan” recorded a slight decline in ticket sales, earning ₹2.75 crore at the box office. Despite the dip, the film’s total collection now stands impressively at ₹111.8 crore, showcasing its strong appeal among audiences.
“Shaitaan” is the Hindi remake of the Gujarati film “Vash,” released last year in February. The film’s success highlights the popularity of its lead actors, Ajay Devgn and Madhavan, along with the engaging narrative crafted by director Vikas Bahl.
Jyotika, one of the film’s stars, expressed gratitude towards the makers of “Shaitaan” with a heartfelt note and a behind-the-scenes reel featuring her co-stars Ajay Devgn and Madhavan. She described the film as “a journey of happiness, memories, creativity, talent, and friends for a lifetime,” thanking Devgn Films, Panorama Studios, and Jio Studios for the fulfilling experience.
Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, while acknowledging the film’s commercial success, gave “Shaitaan” 1.5 out of 5 stars in his review. He mentioned that the film, although targeting Ajay Devgn’s fan base with its action-packed narrative, lacked depth in its portrayal of good versus evil, describing it as “fluffy” and “contrived.”
“Shaitaan” features Janki Bodiwala in a pivotal role, reprising her character from the original Gujarati film “Vash.” The film’s compelling storyline, coupled with strong performances and effective marketing, has contributed to its box office success and positive reception among viewers.
As “Shaitaan” continues its successful run in theaters, it serves as a testament to the enduring appeal of horror films and the star power of Ajay Devgn and Madhavan, captivating audiences with its thrilling narrative and engaging performances.
