Adah Sharma’s latest film “Bastar: The Naxal Story” has hit the box office with a modest start, earning ₹50 lakh on its opening day. The movie, which delves into the Naxal insurgency in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, faces tough competition from Sidharth Malhotra’s “Yodha.”
The team behind “Bastar: The Naxal Story,” including Adah Sharma, Sudipto Sen, and Vipul Amrutal Shah, previously achieved success with “The Kerala Story.” However, the new film’s opening day collection falls significantly short compared to their earlier hit.
While “The Kerala Story” earned ₹8 crore on its opening day and went on to gross ₹242 crore in India, “Bastar: The Naxal Story” faces challenges due to its clash with the much-anticipated “Yodha.” The latter, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, collected ₹4.26 crore on its opening day, overshadowing the former’s debut.
Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutal Shah, “Bastar: The Naxal Story” focuses on the plight of common people amidst the Naxal insurgency, with Adah Sharma portraying the role of an IPS officer in the film. The narrative aims to shed light on human tragedy rather than delve into political aspects.
Addressing concerns about the film’s content, Vipul Amrutal Shah clarified that “Bastar: The Naxal Story” is not politically driven but aims to highlight the suffering of ordinary citizens affected by the conflict. He emphasized the need to bring forward the real human tragedy faced by common people, distinct from political narratives.
