At the trailer launch event of Kajol’s upcoming horror film Maa held in Mumbai on Thursday, Ajay Devgn, who is also the film’s producer, addressed questions about his daughter Nysa’s potential Bollywood debut. When asked why Nysa was not cast in Maa, Ajay candidly shared that she is currently “not interested in this kind of work.”
Nysa Devgn, the 22-year-old daughter of the superstar couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol, has long been speculated to enter the film industry, but the actor clarified that her priorities lie elsewhere at the moment.
Kajol, meanwhile, spoke emotionally about her role in Maa, where she portrays a mother fiercely protecting her daughter from dark forces. She revealed how playing the role touched her deeply as a parent. “It’s any parent’s worst nightmare to lose their child,” Kajol said. She added, “I tend not to let my feelings affect my shot, but sometimes emotions come easier because it feels so real and connected.”
Ajay Devgn and Kajol, married since 1999, have two children: Nysa, born in 2003, and Yug, born in 2010. The family recently celebrated Nysa’s 22nd birthday, with Ajay sharing a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a mirror selfie with her. He wrote, “Selfies only happen because Nysa wouldn’t take no for an answer. Thank you for always capturing memories… Happy Birthday, my baby! Love you endlessly.” Kajol also wished Nysa with a warm message and beautiful pictures of her daughter in ethnic attire.
The film Maa marks Kajol’s new venture into horror and is set to release soon, with the trailer giving audiences a glimpse of an intense, emotional storyline centered on motherhood and survival.
While fans continue to await Nysa’s official Bollywood debut, Ajay’s recent remarks confirm that she is currently charting her own path, away from the limelight.
