Charu Asopa, former actress and ex-sister-in-law of Sushmita Sen, has recently hit back at online trolls after facing criticism for her purchases while setting up her new home in Bikaner. Following her divorce from Rajeev Sen, Charu made the decision to move to her hometown with her daughter Ziana, but her recent vlogs documenting her shopping spree have sparked backlash, with many assuming she was facing financial difficulties.
In a new vlog, Charu showcased her essential household purchases, including an air conditioner, fridge, and other items for her new home. However, trolls quickly jumped to conclusions, accusing Charu of overspending and suggesting that she was pretending to be financially stable while struggling behind the scenes. Some even mocked her for traveling by flight instead of a train, assuming that it reflected a financial crisis.
Setting the record straight, Charu was quick to address these comments, clarifying that she had never claimed to be struggling financially. “I never said I was poor,” Charu asserted. “By God’s grace, I’m managing fine. I don’t want sympathy. I’ve taken a conscious break from TV to explore other things. That was my decision.” She further explained that she was managing her finances carefully and spending within her means.
Charu also revealed that she had purchased a home in Bikaner through a loan and emphasized the benefits of having a fixed EMI (equated monthly installment). “The EMI I’m paying now is almost equal to the rent I was paying in Mumbai. Rent increases each year, but EMI remains constant—that’s the advantage,” Charu explained. She mentioned that while she was carefully budgeting her purchases, she was making sure to buy essential items for her family, such as an air conditioner and fridge, despite their high costs.
Despite the financial challenges, Charu remains confident in her choices and continues to prioritize her daughter’s well-being. She explained that her decision to stay in Bikaner was made to be closer to Ziana, and although she has taken a break from daily soap operas, she continues to receive work offers from producers.
Charu and Rajeev Sen, who tied the knot in 2019, went through a tumultuous marriage that ended in divorce. The two share custody of their daughter, Ziana, and continue to co-parent her despite their personal differences.
With this statement, Charu has set the record straight and called for an end to the online negativity surrounding her choices and personal life.
