Bollywood actor Dino Morea recently opened up about his past relationship with Bipasha Basu and how they navigated their breakup while shooting for the 2002 horror thriller Raaz. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Dino revealed that it was a challenging time, especially for Bipasha, who struggled to cope with the separation while working together on set.
Breakup During Raaz Shoot
Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu were among the most talked-about couples in the late 1990s. However, their relationship hit a rough patch during the filming of Raaz, leading to their eventual breakup. Speaking about the difficult phase, Dino said, “Jab Raaz ke dauran, we were breaking up, Bipasha and me, and to be honest, it was me who was breaking up with Bipasha because we had some issues. So she found it very tough, and I was seeing her every day on the set. She was upset. It was very, very tough at that point for me to see someone I care about so much.”
The actor further explained that they tried to resolve their issues but ultimately decided to go their separate ways. “We had already chosen different paths, and though we tried to work things out, it just wasn’t happening. Eventually, I moved on.”
Professional and Personal Struggles
Despite their emotional struggles, the two actors remained professional and completed the film. Dino shared how working together post-breakup made things even harder. “It was a challenging time; parting ways with someone you’ve spent years with while still working together made it even harder.”
Following Raaz, Dino and Bipasha went on to work together in films like Gunaah, Ishq Hai Tumse, Rakht, and Chehraa. Over time, they were able to move past the breakup and rebuild their bond.
From Exes to Best Friends
Dino revealed that with time, any bitterness faded away, and they eventually became close friends. “That moment is very tough; it’s like anger, emotions, rage, but time makes you understand that it was just a phase. I really enjoy that person, and she enjoys me, so let’s be friends at least.”
Their friendship remained strong even years after their split. Dino was even present at Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover’s wedding reception in 2016, proving that they had left their past behind.
