Television actress Rupali Ganguly has broken her silence on the ongoing controversy surrounding her personal life, in which her step-daughter Esha Verma accused her of breaking her parents’ marriage. The actor, known for her role in the popular show Anupamaa, addressed the allegations for the first time and expressed her feelings regarding the situation.
Esha Verma, in a 2020 post that resurfaced recently, had accused Rupali of being responsible for the breakdown of her parents’ marriage. Esha further claimed that Rupali had been verbally, mentally, and emotionally abusive towards her and her mother, alleging that Rupali had even slept on the bed that Esha’s parents had shared. These claims led to a defamation notice being sent by Rupali to Esha, demanding ₹50 crore in damages for the alleged harm to her reputation and career.
Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Rupali acknowledged that such personal attacks are hurtful. “If I tell you that these things don’t affect me, then I’d be lying,” she admitted. “Of course, such things affect us. We are humans, after all. It hurts when someone passes even a tiny comment behind our back.”
However, Rupali remained steadfast, emphasizing that the truth will eventually prevail. She stated, “The ones who love me will continue doing so. Achhe karam karte jao, achhi cheeze aap ke saath aaj nahi toh kal zaroor hongi (Keep doing good deeds, and good things will happen to you, today or in the future). Everyone goes through rough phases, bad things do happen, but eventually, the truth always wins.”
The feud between Rupali and her step-daughter intensified after Esha’s allegations surfaced. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Esha had claimed that Rupali’s actions had caused significant emotional trauma for her and her mother. She also revealed that her father, Ashwin K, had refuted the allegations, stating that Rupali was not involved in the divorce, which Esha strongly denied.
In response, Rupali sent Esha a defamation notice, accusing her of damaging her reputation and causing significant financial harm. Following the legal action, Esha deleted all posts related to Rupali from her social media and made her Instagram account private.
