The Rule turned tragic on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, as a stampede during the event claimed the life of a female fan and critically injured her young son. Actor Allu Arjun and the theatre management are now facing legal scrutiny for alleged mismanagement.
Chaos at the Premiere
The stampede reportedly occurred when Allu Arjun made an unannounced visit to the theatre for a screening of the film, accompanied by the film’s team, his family, and fans. The Hyderabad Police allege that the actor’s visit was not communicated to law enforcement, leading to insufficient crowd control measures at the venue.
Police Commissioner CV Anand stated, “There was no intimation from the side of theatre management or the actor’s team that they would be visiting the theatre. Additionally, no separate entry or exit was designated for the actor and his team.”
Legal Action to Follow
The Hyderabad police have announced their intention to file charges against Allu Arjun for his alleged role in the mismanagement that led to the stampede. The theatre’s management will also face legal action for failing to arrange adequate security and crowd control provisions. “Stringent action as per law will be taken against all responsible parties,” said Commissioner Anand.
Allu Arjun’s Team Extends Support
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Allu Arjun faced criticism for his perceived lack of immediate response. However, his team clarified that they had reached out to the grieving family. Sarath Chandra Naidu, Allu Arjun’s head of content and digital, revealed that producer Bunny Vas visited the hospital on behalf of the actor to ensure financial assistance for the injured boy’s treatment. Naidu emphasized that not every update is shared publicly, stating, “The team is deeply committed to supporting the family in every possible way.”
Producers Express Condolences
The film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, released a heartfelt statement expressing their grief over the incident. “We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time,” the statement read.
Co-Star’s Reaction
Rashmika Mandanna, who stars alongside Allu Arjun in Pushpa 2: The Rule, shared her condolences on social media. Retweeting the producer’s statement, she wrote, “I am so sorry to hear this.”
Ongoing Investigation
The tragic incident has cast a shadow over the film’s release, and the authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure accountability. As the legal process unfolds, the industry and fans mourn the loss of a devoted admirer and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured child.
