“Malayalam Actor Bala Arrested After Ex-Wife Amrutha Suresh Files Assault and Misbehaviour Complaint”

Malayalam Actor Bala Arrested After Ex-Wife Amrutha Suresh Files Assault Complaint

Malayalam and Tamil actor Bala, also known as Balakumar, has been arrested following a complaint filed by his ex-wife, singer Amrutha Suresh. The actor was apprehended by the Kadavanthra police in Ernakulam, Kerala, on charges of assault and misbehaviour. According to Manorama, Bala faces charges related to outraging the modesty of a woman, with additional allegations under juvenile justice laws.

The complaint stems from accusations that Bala physically assaulted Amrutha on multiple occasions, including in the presence of their 12-year-old daughter, Avantika. As per News9, Bala’s former driver, who worked for him for three years, came forward with evidence corroborating these claims. The driver disclosed that he had witnessed Bala assaulting Amrutha several times, leaving her with visible scars. In a Facebook post, the driver stated, “I don’t want to hide anything since their relationship is over. Bala had ill-treated her in a brutal manner, and I was witness to it. She had scars on her body for which she had been to treatment. I saw all of this.”

In addition to physical abuse allegations, the case also involves a social media dispute. Bala had accused Amrutha of preventing him from seeing their daughter, Avantika. However, Avantika posted a video claiming that her father had misbehaved with both her and her mother. In response, Bala shared a video stating that if Avantika no longer wanted to see him, he would no longer wish to maintain a relationship with her.

Amrutha’s complaint further claims that Bala insulted her through social media and caused emotional harm to their daughter with his videos. Both Bala and his manager have been arrested at Bala’s Kochi residence.

Bala hails from a family with deep roots in the Malayalam film industry. His grandfather owned Arunachala Studios, while his father directed over 350 films and documentaries. Bala’s brother, Siva, is a filmmaker and cinematographer. Bala began his acting career in 2002 with the Telugu film 2 Much, credited as Bala Kumar. He made his Tamil debut in 2003 with Anbu, but his prominence in the Malayalam film industry began with the 2006 movie Kalabham. Though mostly known for his supporting roles, his last appearance was in Omar Lulu’s action comedy Bad Boyz, released earlier this year.
