Akshay Kumar’s latest comedy-drama, Khel Khel Mein, has surpassed the ₹10 crore mark at the box office, with its total domestic collection reaching ₹13.95 crore as of Day 4. According to a Sacnilk report, the film earned ₹3.75 crore on Sunday, marking a significant growth from its previous days.
Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Khel Khel Mein stars an ensemble cast including Ammy Virk, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Pragya Jaiswal. The film is a remake of the 2016 Italian movie Perfect Strangers, which featured actors such as Bronson Pinchot and Rebeca Arthur.
Despite its growth on Sunday, Khel Khel Mein has faced criticism and is described by Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh as continuing to “struggle” at the box office. On X (formerly Twitter), Adarsh highlighted that the film shows “no signs of revival” and shared disheartening numbers for the first three days of its release: ₹5.23 crore on Thursday, ₹2.42 crore on Friday, and ₹3.40 crore on Saturday, totaling ₹11.05 crore.
The film, which delves into the dynamics of a group of friends revealing each other’s secrets during a dinner, is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Shashikant Sinha, Ashwin Varde, and Rajesh Bahl under the banners of T-Series Films, Wakaoo Films, and White World Productions.
Khel Khel Mein is currently facing stiff competition from Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, and Vedaa, featuring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh. In response to the box office clash with Vedaa, Akshay Kumar remarked to News 18 Showsha, “We’re very good friends. We’re close buddies. Clashes at the box office keep happening. It’s not a big deal at all.”
As the film continues its run, it remains to be seen if it can achieve the projected ₹15 crore milestone and improve its box office performance in the coming days.
