Puttur, July 19, 2024 — The ICAR-Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur, in a commendable initiative to bridge the gap between agriculture and engineering, hosted a dynamic one-day workshop for the civil engineering students of St. Joseph’s College, Mangalore. This event, spearheaded by Dr. J. Dinakar Adiga, aimed to inspire and engage the youth in the vital processes of food production and quality improvement.

The workshop was conducted in collaboration with The Food Chain, an organization founded by Mr. Yathish and Dr. Saurish, with the mission to spark an interest among the younger generation in participating more actively in the food-growing process. Their vision revolves around fostering a robust local economy centered on food, thereby enhancing the quality of food available within the community.

Dr. Ashwathi chandrakumar, the event coordinator, ensured the seamless execution of the workshop. With her meticulous planning and dedication, the event became a platform for knowledge exchange and innovative ideas.

The workshop comprised two enlightening sessions led by expert speakers, focusing on farm mechanization and food processing. These sessions provided the students with practical insights into the latest advancements and techniques in agriculture, demonstrating the intersection of engineering and farming practices.
