Nandamuri Balakrishna’s action-drama Daaku Maharaaj, which performed strongly at the box office, is all set for its OTT debut on Netflix on February 21. While the film’s OTT release announcement has been widely anticipated, it’s the absence of actress Urvashi Rautela from the poster that has caught everyone’s attention, sparking a wave of hilarious reactions from fans.
On Sunday, Netflix shared a poster to promote the movie’s release on their platform. The poster featured the film’s lead actors, including Nandamuri Balakrishna, Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, and Shraddha Srinath, but noticeably absent was Urvashi Rautela. The caption read, “We would just like to say pranaam maharaj. Watch Daaku Maharaaj, out on 21 Feb on Netflix!”
The curious omission quickly became a subject of online banter. Social media users took to various platforms to comment on the apparent snub. One Instagram user wrote, “But where is the lead actress?” while another humorously added, “India’s first woman to be removed from the poster of a 105+ crore film.” Other fans joked about Rautela’s absence, with one asking, “@urvashirautela you were in this movie, right? Can’t see you on the poster.” Another even quipped, “Where is Miss Rolex?” referring to Rautela’s infamous penchant for flaunting her luxury watches.
Rautela, who heavily promoted the film in interviews and made headlines for her public displays of wealth during press events, had previously faced some criticism for boasting about the film’s box office collection. The actress had notably shown off her expensive Rolex watch while discussing the movie’s ₹100 crore earnings and even made headlines for her concern over actor Saif Ali Khan’s comments.
Despite some controversy surrounding the film, including backlash over the song “Dabidi Dibidi” featuring Urvashi and Balakrishna, Daaku Maharaaj performed well at the box office, grossing ₹90 crore in India and ₹125.8 crore globally. The film, directed by Bobby Kolli and produced by Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios, will be available for streaming on Netflix from February 21.
The film also features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, Rishi, Chandini Chowdary, Pradeep Rawat, Sachin Khedekar, Shine Tom Chacko, Viswant Duddumpudi, Aadukalam Naren, and Ravi Kishan.
