Thudarum Box Office Collection Day 15: Mohanlal Film Dethrones 2018 as the Highest-Grossing Film in Kerala

Mohanlal’s latest film Thudarum has created history at the Kerala box office, officially becoming the highest-grossing film in the state and the third-highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the family thriller has surpassed the 2018 hit 2018 to claim the top spot, marking another major milestone in Mohanlal’s illustrious career.

On Day 15 of its release, Thudarum achieved impressive box office collections, earning ₹90.35 crore net in India and over ₹184.70 crore worldwide, according to reports from Sacnilk. The film’s distributors, Aashirvad Cinemas, celebrated the achievement by unveiling a special poster of Mohanlal, showcasing the text: “All time highest-grossing movie in Kerala.” The poster also added, “No more records left. Just one name: Mohanlal. Kerala’s highest. Cinema’s finest. #Thudarum.”

The record-breaking performance of Thudarum has dethroned 2018 as the highest-grossing film in Kerala, both in terms of local and global collections. However, the film still has some way to go before it overtakes Mohanlal’s own L2 Empuraan (₹265.5 crore) and Manjummel Boys (₹240 crore) in worldwide earnings.

Thudarum has not only captured the box office but also the hearts of audiences. Fans have been vocal in their admiration for Mohanlal, with many taking to social media to celebrate his achievement. One fan wrote, “5 consecutive decades…ONE MAN,” while another praised, “This man is again proving Mollywood is Mohanlalwood.” The actor’s loyal following has also been calling him “the mighty L,” a testament to his enduring popularity.

The film, which hit theaters on April 25, has received favorable reviews for its gripping storyline and Mohanlal’s stellar performance. Thudarum is a family thriller that tells the story of Shanmugham ‘Benz’, a modest taxi driver, whose peaceful life is turned upside down when his beloved car goes missing. As the plot unfolds, Shanmugham goes to great lengths to protect what he holds dear, leading to a series of thrilling and emotional events.

Produced by M Renjith under Rejaputhra Visual Media, Thudarum features an ensemble cast, including Sobhana, Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, and Krishna Prabha in supporting roles.

With this achievement, Thudarum has proven itself to be more than just a box office success — it is a testament to Mohanlal’s continued dominance in Malayalam cinema.
