“Renowned Director Rajkumar Kohli, Father of Actor Armaan Kohli, Passes Away”

Veteran Filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli Passes Away: Funeral to be Held on Friday

The film industry mourns the loss of veteran filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli, who breathed his last on Friday morning. The demise of the prolific director, father to actor Armaan Kohli, has left a void in Bollywood. Publicist and close associate Vijay Grover confirmed the news, stating that the final rites for Rajkumar Kohli will be conducted on Friday evening.

Rajkumar Kohli, an icon in Indian cinema, marked his legacy through his directorial ventures, notably steering the Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Jaani Dushman’ (2002). According to reports, Kohli, in his early 90s, was discovered unresponsive after a prolonged period in the bathroom. Armaan Kohli, upon noticing his father’s absence, initiated the rescue, only to find him collapsed. Rushed to the hospital, Rajkumar Kohli was pronounced deceased.

Throughout his illustrious career, Rajkumar Kohli helmed several significant Bollywood productions, including ‘Dulla Bhatti’ (1966), ‘Lootera’ featuring Dara Singh, and ensemble films like ‘Nagin’ (1976), ‘Jaani Dushman’ (1979), ‘Badle Ki Aag,’ ‘Naukar Biwi Ka,’ and ‘Raaj Tilak’ (1984). His movies were known for their star-studded casts, regularly featuring stalwarts like Sunil Dutt, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, and actresses Reena Roy and Anita Raj.

A noteworthy collaboration in his filmography was with his son Armaan Kohli, who debuted as a leading actor in the 1992 film ‘Virodhi,’ directed by Rajkumar Kohli. The father-son duo collaborated on subsequent projects such as ‘Aulad Ke Dushman’ (1993), ‘Qahar’ (1997), and ‘Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani,’ which featured Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar, and Armaan.

Despite Armaan’s initial foray into Bollywood, his prominence soared when he participated in the reality show ‘Bigg Boss 7’ in 2013. His presence in the show, hosted by Salman Khan, garnered widespread attention, especially due to his relationship with fellow contestant and actor Tanishaa Mukerji. Armaan emerged as a finalist, gaining significant recognition during his stint on the show.

The demise of Rajkumar Kohli marks the end of an era in Indian cinema, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of cinematic creations and collaborations, notably his impactful contributions to Bollywood and his enduring bond with son Armaan Kohli.
