“Kriti Sanon on Nepotism: ‘Bollywood Isn’t Entirely to Blame, Talent Is Key to Success'”

Kriti Sanon Talks About Nepotism in Bollywood: "It’s a Cycle Involving Media, Audience, and Industry"

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, known for her journey as a self-made star, recently addressed the topic of nepotism during a masterclass session at the 55th International Film Festival in Goa. The Mimi actress, who debuted alongside Tiger Shroff in Heropanti and won the National Award for Best Actress, shared her perspective on the much-discussed issue, emphasizing that the responsibility for nepotism extends beyond the film industry.

Kriti on the Cycle of Nepotism

According to a report by DNA, Kriti said, “I feel the industry is not so much responsible for nepotism. It’s also the media and the audience. The audiences want to watch what the media is putting about certain star kids. Because the audience is interested in them, the industry feels that since the audience is interested, let’s make a movie with them. So, I think it’s a circle.”

Kriti added that talent remains the ultimate deciding factor in sustaining a career. “If you are talented, you will get there. If you’re not talented, and if the connect is not there with the audience, you will not get there,” she stated.

The Challenges of Being an Outsider

Kriti highlighted the additional struggles faced by outsiders trying to make it in the film industry. “When you don’t belong to a film background, it takes time for you to get there. It takes time for you to get those opportunities you crave for. It takes time for you to even get those magazine covers. So everything is a bit of a struggle. But after 2-3 films, if you keep working hard and if you are at it, nothing can stop you,” she said.

Kriti Sanon’s Success Story

Since her debut in 2014, Kriti has built a remarkable career, starring in films such as Dilwale, Raabta, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi, and Housefull 4. Her recent project, Do Patti, featuring Shaheer Shaikh and Kajol, marked a milestone as the first production under her newly launched banner, Blue Butterfly Films.

As Kriti continues to shine in Bollywood, her journey serves as an inspiration for aspiring actors striving to carve their own path in the industry.
