The second day’s box office figures for Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Khel Khel Mein, reveal a sluggish performance. The comedy-drama, which is a remake of the 2016 Italian film Perfect Strangers, earned ₹2.05 crore on its second day, according to Sacnilk. The film, directed by Mudassar Aziz, has accumulated a total of ₹7.1 crore in domestic collections so far.
Despite the star-studded cast, including Akshay Kumar, Ammy Virk, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Pragya Jaiswal, Khel Khel Mein has faced challenges at the box office. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted on X (formerly Twitter) that the film had a lackluster start on Independence Day, and its performance on Day 2 continued to decline. He pointed out that the film’s numbers should have at least matched its Day 1 collections but failed to do so. Adarsh highlighted that Khel Khel Mein is targeted at a metro-centric audience, yet it has not been widely embraced in major urban centers.
The film’s total earnings for the first week, including a partial holiday on Raksha Bandhan, are projected to be around ₹7.65 crore. The performance has been further impacted by competition from other releases, notably Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 and John Abraham’s Vedaa.
In a recent interview with News 18 Showsha, Akshay Kumar downplayed the significance of the box office clash with John Abraham’s film, emphasizing their friendship and expressing that such clashes are commonplace in the industry.
As Khel Khel Mein continues its run, the industry will be closely watching its performance over the weekend and into the next week to gauge its overall impact and success.
