The box office journey of Indian 2 began with a strong start, raking in ₹25.6 crore on its opening day, including ₹16.5 crore from Tamil Nadu, ₹1.2 crore from Hindi markets, and ₹7.9 crore from Telugu regions. The following days saw steady collections, with day two bringing in ₹18.2 crore and day three contributing ₹15.35 crore to the film’s total earnings.
Despite a slight dip in collections on subsequent days, with ₹3 crore each on days four and five, Indian 2 has maintained a steady pace towards crossing the ₹70 crore mark soon, as predicted by industry analysts. The film’s popularity has been bolstered by its compelling narrative, which continues the saga of Senapathy, the iconic character known affectionately as ‘Indian Thatha.’
In a recent development aimed at enhancing viewer experience, the runtime of Indian 2 has been trimmed by 12 minutes. This decision, announced by Lyca Productions, aims to offer audiences a more streamlined and engaging cinematic experience.
The sequel, which also features Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh in pivotal roles, has resonated well with audiences for its depiction of corruption and Senapathy’s vigilante justice rooted in the ancient martial art of ‘varma kalai.’ Produced by Red Giant Movies, Indian 2 is a testament to the enduring appeal of Kamal Haasan’s iconic portrayal and Shankar’s directorial prowess.
