Mumbai Police have arrested a man from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, for allegedly threatening Bollywood actor Salman Khan with the name of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and demanding a ransom of ₹5 crore. The arrest came after an investigation was launched following a threatening message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police on October 18.
According to the police, the initial threat was sent to the control room of the Mumbai Traffic Police, where the individual claimed to be associated with Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang and demanded the ransom, warning that Salman Khan’s life would be in danger if the money was not paid. The message read, “If Salman Khan wants to stay alive and end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, he will have to pay ₹5 crore. If not, his condition will be worse than Baba Siddique’s.”
In a strange turn of events, just three days later, on October 21, the Mumbai police received another message from the same number, apologizing for the threat and claiming it was sent “by mistake.” However, the authorities continued their investigation, tracking the location of the individual to Jharkhand. With the assistance of local police in Jamshedpur, the sender was arrested on October 23 and will be brought to Mumbai for further investigation.
The case was filed by Worli Police after receiving the threatening message, which also made references to the recent murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique.
Salman Khan, who was close to Siddique, returned to hosting Bigg Boss 18 just days after Siddique’s demise. In a recent episode, Khan admitted that he was emotionally affected by the loss and did not feel like meeting anyone but returned to work due to his commitments.
The investigation into the threat against Khan is ongoing as the Mumbai Police work to determine the full extent of the sender’s claims and any potential links to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.
