Spiritual orator and social media sensation Jaya Kishori has recently found herself at the center of controversy after appearing in public with a custom Dior “Book Tote” valued at over ₹2 lakh. The 29-year-old preacher was spotted carrying the luxury bag at an airport, triggering a wave of criticism and speculation from followers and detractors alike.
In response to the backlash, Kishori took to social media to clarify her stance. “I am a normal girl; I live in a normal house with my family,” she stated. Kishori emphasized the importance of hard work, urging her followers to “earn money, give yourself a good life, give your family a good life, and fulfill your dreams.”
Kishori explained that her Dior bag is a customized item made without any leather, reinforcing her commitment to non-materialism. “The bag is customized, meaning you can have it made according to your wishes. That’s why my name is also written on it. I have never used leather, nor will I ever use it,” she asserted.
The spiritual preacher’s appearance sparked debates about her credibility, particularly concerning her teachings on detachment from material wealth. Critics questioned how someone who promotes non-materialism could own such an expensive item. One user on social media remarked, “Spiritual preacher Jaya Kishori deleted her video where she was carrying a Dior bag worth ₹2,10,000. By the way, she preaches non-materialism and calls herself a devotee of Lord Krishna.”
Addressing the criticism, Kishori maintained, “I have not renounced anything, so how can I tell you to do so? I am clear from day one that I am not a saint, sadhu, or sadhvi.”
With a substantial following of over 12.3 million on Instagram, Kishori continues to attract attention for her spiritual teachings, blending traditional values with contemporary living. Her recent controversy reflects the ongoing dialogue about materialism and spirituality in today’s society.
