Janki Bodiwala Opens Up About Bold Scene in Vash: “I Was Asked to Urinate for Real”
Actor Janki Bodiwala, who played a pivotal role in both the Gujarati horror film Vash and its Hindi remake Shaitaan, recently made a candid revelation that has caught fans and cinephiles by surprise. In a roundtable discussion with Filmfare, Janki shared behind-the-scenes details about one of the most intense scenes from Vash—a moment when her character urinates in fear to prevent her father from escalating a dangerous situation.
Janki revealed that director Krishnadev Yagnik had approached her during the workshop phase of Vash with a bold request—whether she could perform the urination scene for real. “He asked me, can you just do it for real? The pee scene. It will make a big impact,” she recalled. Rather than being offended or hesitant, the actor embraced the idea. “I was so happy about it. Like, whoa! Being an actor, I’m getting a chance to do something on screen that no one has ever done,” she said.
Though Janki was eager to take on the challenge, logistical and practical concerns during the shoot led to a simulated version of the scene. “It didn’t happen because of art thing and it would have taken many retakes. It wouldn’t have been possible practically on set,” she explained. Nonetheless, the experience remained one of her most cherished moments. “That scene is literally my favourite. And because of that scene, I said yes to that film,” she added.
In both Vash and Shaitaan, Janki portrays Aarya, a teenager possessed by a mysterious stranger who infiltrates her family’s home and unleashes chaos. The Hindi remake, Shaitaan, starred Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Jyotika, and was both a critical and commercial success.
Janki’s revelation sheds light on the kind of dedication and willingness to push boundaries that actors sometimes bring to their roles—especially in emotionally and physically demanding scenes.
