In a lighthearted and candid response to rumors about social media praise being orchestrated by her PR team, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has addressed the claims with a touch of humor. During a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the 26-year-old actress jokingly remarked that she does not have the financial resources to pay for compliments on social media.
Kapoor, who made her Bollywood debut in 2018 with Dhadak, is currently promoting her upcoming film Ulajh, set to hit theaters on August 2, 2024. In the interview, Kapoor was informed about the positive buzz surrounding her performances and jokingly said, “Main khud ke baare me kaise baith kar bolu, ‘Main na badi confident ho gayi hu, bade acche acche performances de rahi hu’? Main khud nahi keh sakti na” (But how can I sit and say about myself, ‘I have become very confident; I am giving very good performances’? I can’t say it myself).”
Addressing the social media speculation that her positive reviews might be a result of paid promotions, Kapoor added with a chuckle, “Koi bhi main jab dekhti hu na social media par galti se koi bhi tareef kar leta hai na toh yeh bolte rehte hain ki ‘Yeh toh iska PR hoga, yeh toh iska…’ Main bolti hu ‘Nahi itna budget nahi hai ki main logon se tareef karwaun’” (Whenever I see someone praising me even by mistake on social media, they keep saying, ‘This must be her PR’. I say ‘no I don’t have enough budget to pay people to compliment me’).
Kapoor’s comments reflect a playful engagement with the persistent speculation about her PR strategies. The actress, who was last seen in Mr & Mrs Mahi alongside Rajkummar Rao, will be seen next in Ulajh, where she stars alongside Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain.
