“Gadar 2 Rockets to ₹500 Crores, Becomes Fastest Film to Reach Milestone”

"Gadar 2" Triumphs: Sunny Deol's Film Crosses ₹500 Crore Milestone in Record Time

“Gadar 2,” the much-anticipated sequel to the iconic 2001 film “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,” has stormed into the exclusive ₹500 crore club at the Indian box office. Directed by Anil Sharma, this cinematic extravaganza stars the legendary Sunny Deol alongside Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in pivotal roles.

As reported by Sacnilk.com, “Gadar 2” added an impressive ₹8.50 crore to its collection on its 24th day of release, marking a significant milestone in Indian cinema. The film’s box office journey has been a remarkable one, with a week one collection of ₹284.63 crore, followed by ₹134.47 crore in the second week and ₹63.35 crore in the third week. With a stellar ₹8.50 crore on its fourth Sunday, “Gadar 2” now boasts a staggering total of ₹501.87 crore in India.

Remarkably, “Gadar 2” is now the third Hindi film to join the ₹500 crore club, following in the footsteps of SS Rajamouli’s “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” (2017) and Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan.” However, what sets “Gadar 2” apart is its extraordinary speed in reaching this remarkable milestone, accomplishing the feat in just 24 days. “Pathaan” took 28 days, and “Baahubali 2” achieved it in 34 days.

Internationally, “Gadar 2” has also made an indelible mark, crossing the ₹650 crore mark at the global box office. It now stands as the 10th highest-grossing Indian movie of all time, surpassing “Baahubali – The Beginning,” which had achieved ₹650 crore worldwide in 2015.

“Gadar 2” follows the story of Sunny Deol’s iconic character, Tara Singh, as he embarks on a journey to Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet, played by Utkarsh Sharma, from the clutches of the Pakistani Army. The film, released on August 11, has emerged as a resounding success and one of the biggest box office hits following the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The cast also includes Manish Wadhwa and Gaurav Chopra.

Director Anil Sharma, reflecting on the film’s success, acknowledged the complexity of creating a mass entertainer that seamlessly blends reality and fiction. He highlighted the challenge of making the larger-than-life hero’s actions appear genuine yet entertaining. Sharma also emphasized the importance of crafting believable situations, even referencing the iconic handpump scene from “Gadar.”

As “Gadar 2” continues to break records and captivate audiences worldwide, it solidifies its place in Indian cinematic history as a monumental achievement in storytelling and entertainment.
