Sonu Sood’s directorial debut, Fateh, has earned ₹6.6 crore in its first three days at the box office. Despite featuring a star-studded cast including Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Naseeruddin Shah, the film has struggled to captivate Indian audiences.
According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the film collected ₹2.4 crore on its opening day, ₹2.1 crore on day two, and ₹2.1 crore on Sunday. With an overall 19.05% Hindi occupancy on its third day, the film’s weekend performance has fallen short of expectations.
Mixed Reviews and Stiff Competition
Fateh has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Adding to its challenges is the competition from the Hindi-dubbed version of S Shankar’s Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, which has dominated the box office.
Sonu Sood’s Vision for ‘Fateh’
At the red carpet screening of Fateh in New Delhi on Sunday, Sonu Sood spoke about his inspiration for directing the film. He explained, “I always used to think that whenever a Bollywood movie is made, we often wonder why our action scenes don’t match up to foreign films. That thought always stayed with me. As an actor, you have limits due to production budgets and scripts, but as a director, I could bring my vision to life.”
Sonu revealed that he spent significant time crafting the action sequences, with one particular scene taking 2.5 months to complete.
About the Film
Fateh is inspired by real-life cybercrime incidents during the COVID-19 pandemic. The film narrates a gripping story about the fight against cybercrime, combining high-octane action with a socially relevant theme.
Conclusion
While Fateh has yet to gain momentum at the box office, it showcases Sonu Sood’s ambition and vision as a filmmaker. As the film enters its first full week, it remains to be seen if word-of-mouth and audience interest can turn the tide.
