Farah Khan Faces Complaint for Calling Holi ‘A Festival for Chapris’: Report

Complaint Filed Against Farah Khan Over Holi Remark on Celebrity MasterChef

A complaint has been filed against Bollywood filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan for allegedly referring to Holi as “a festival for the chhapris,” a term considered derogatory. The complaint was lodged by Vikash Fhatak, popularly known as Hindustani Bhau, at Khar Police Station on Friday, February 23.

Why Was the Complaint Filed?

The controversy arose following an episode of Celebrity MasterChef on February 20, where Farah Khan allegedly made the remark. Hindustani Bhau’s legal representative, Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, stated that the comment was offensive and hurt religious sentiments.

ABP News quoted the advocate as saying, “My client states that this comment made by Farah Khan has insulted the religious sentiments of Hindus. The use of the term ‘chhapris’ to describe a sacred festival is highly inappropriate and has the potential to cause communal tension.”

Legal Action Demanded

The complaint further alleges that Farah Khan’s statement was “highly derogatory” and could incite unrest. The complainant has urged the police to take action under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 196, 299, 302, and 353.

Farah Khan Yet to Respond

Farah Khan has not yet issued any statement regarding the controversy. She currently serves as one of the judges on Celebrity MasterChef, alongside Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar.
