
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has come under scrutiny from Barelvi cleric Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, who called the actor’s decision to wear a Ram Janmabhoomi edition watch “haram” (forbidden in Islam). The cleric, who is the president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, stated that Salman should refrain from actions deemed un-Islamic.
Cleric’s Statement on Salman Khan’s Watch
In a statement issued on Friday, Maulana Razvi said he had received multiple inquiries about the Islamic perspective on Salman Khan’s actions.
He further emphasized that Salman Khan, being a prominent Muslim celebrity with a massive fan base, should be cautious about his actions and adhere to religious guidelines.
Salman Khan’s Ram Janmabhoomi Edition Watch
The controversy arose when Salman Khan was seen wearing the limited-edition Ram Janmabhoomi watch during promotions for his upcoming film Sikandar. The watch, worth ₹34 lakh, features intricate engravings celebrating the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, including a detailed relief of the temple on the dial, sacred Hindu inscriptions, and a stylish gold bezel with an orange strap.
According to reports, only 49 pieces of this exclusive watch exist worldwide, and Salman Khan owns one, gifted to him by his mother, Salma Khan.
Salman Khan’s Upcoming Film
On the work front, Salman Khan’s next film, Sikandar is set for a March 30, Eid release. The movie, directed by AR Murugadoss, also stars Rashmika Mandanna and is expected to be a big box-office draw.
Despite the controversy, Salman Khan has not issued any statement regarding the cleric’s remarks. It remains to be seen if the actor will respond to the religious debate surrounding his choice of accessories.
