Dinesh Vijan is expanding his successful horror-comedy universe with a new film titled Thama, set to release on Diwali 2025. Following the success of Stree 2, the upcoming film features Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, promising to blend humor with spine-chilling moments.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for Munjya, Thama also boasts a star-studded cast, including veteran actors Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film is expected to follow in the footsteps of other hits from Vijan’s horror-comedy universe, including Stree and Bhediya.
The title teaser for Thama was recently shared by Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Instagram. The teaser features the soulful voice of Arijit Singh, accompanied by a message that reads, “This universe needed a love story, unfortunately, it’s a bloody one.” The announcement included a note stating, “AFTER ‘STREE 2′, ‘MUNJYA’, AYUSHMANN KHURRANA – RASHMIKA STAR IN DINESH VIJAN’S NEXT HORROR-COMEDY ‘THAMA’… DIWALI 2025 RELEASE.”
Aparshakti Khurana, who portrays Bittu in the Stree franchise, expressed excitement about his brother Ayushmann’s participation in this unique universe. He remarked, “We had been waiting for so long to work with each other in something that’s good, and what can be better than a world which has been created? Something that has never happened in Indian filmmaking, where there’s this world in which so many great characters will come together and stay in people’s hearts.”
The film promises to introduce a gripping love story set against a bloody backdrop, adding a new dimension to the established horror-comedy genre. With such a talented cast and the proven success of Dinesh Vijan’s previous films, Thama is poised to be another major hit in the Indian film industry.
