Social media influencer and actress Apoorva Makhija has been removed from IIFA’s list of promoters following the controversy surrounding the comedy reality show India’s Got Latent. Sources confirmed on Friday that she is “no longer officially included in the list” of individuals previously associated with the prestigious event.
IIFA Drops Apoorva Makhija
The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2025, set to take place in Jaipur on March 8-9, had earlier included Makhija as a promoter. However, after the uproar over podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remarks on India’s Got Latent, IIFA officials confirmed her removal from the list.
Makhija was a guest panellist on the show alongside Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and host Samay Raina.
Legal Complaint Against Influencers
The controversy erupted after Allahbadia made obscene and offensive remarks during an episode of India’s Got Latent. His comments sparked public outrage, leading to multiple legal complaints filed across the country.
On Thursday, a group of lawyers in Kota lodged a legal complaint against Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, and Apoorva Makhija at Nayapura police station. The complaint accuses the show of promoting vulgarity under the guise of comedy, which they claim is an attack on India’s social and moral values.
The complainants, including lawyers Ritesh Gurjar, Hemlata Sharma, Yash Kumar Nagar, Vishwas Shaktawat, Arvind Rathore, and Rukhsar Syed, argue that such content negatively influences society, particularly the youth, and erodes traditional values.
Additionally, the Assam Police have registered a case against the accused under sections related to obscenity and public morality.

Apoorva Makhija is a social media influencer who gained popularity through her skits and reels on Instagram during the Covid-19 pandemic. She made a guest appearance on India’s Got Latent, where she reportedly had an intense exchange of words with a contestant.
