“Anushka Sharma Responds to Post Calling Soldiers ‘Real Heroes’ Over Bollywood Celebrities and Cricketers”

Anushka Sharma Reacts to Viral Post Honouring Soldiers Over Celebs: "Army Men Are the Real Heroes

Amid rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma has made headlines for her quiet yet powerful show of support for the Indian Armed Forces. The actress, who is married to Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and is also the daughter of an army veteran, recently reacted to a viral social media post that praised soldiers over celebrities and cricketers.

The post, shared by a meme page, read: “Days like these make you realise that Army men are the real heroes, not Bollywood celebrities and cricketers.” Anushka Sharma responded to the message by liking the post on Instagram, a gesture that quickly caught public attention given her personal background and connection to the armed forces.

Before this, Anushka had also shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram Stories, writing: “Eternally grateful to our Indian Armed Forces for protecting us through these times like the heroes that they are. Heartfelt gratitude to the sacrifices they and their families have made. Jai Hind.”

Anushka’s tribute carries deep emotional weight, as she comes from an army family herself. Her father, Colonel (Retd.) Ajay Kumar Sharma, served in the Indian Army and participated in several major operations, including Operation Bluestar and the Kargil War. Anushka was just 11 years old during the Kargil conflict in 1999, a time she once described as emotionally taxing for her family.

In a 2012 interview with ETimes, Anushka shared: “Kargil was a tough one. I was too young at that time, but I was scared of seeing my mother. She would always have the news channel switched on throughout the day and would get upset when casualties were announced.” She proudly added, “I take pride in saying that I am an army officer’s daughter even more than being an actor.”

On the work front, Anushka Sharma has been on an acting hiatus since her last film Zero (2018), where she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Her upcoming film, Chakda Xpress, based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, has completed shooting. However, a release date has not yet been announced.
