Ananya Panday Shares Her Geet-Inspired Experience of Burning an Ex’s Photo

Ananya Panday Embraces Her Inner Geet: Shares Breakup Advice and Personal Story

Ananya Panday recently opened up about her breakup experiences while promoting her upcoming film, CTRL, revealing a heartfelt connection to the iconic character Geet from Jab We Met. In a candid conversation with Galatta India, she recalled a particularly painful breakup during which she burned a photograph of her ex, mirroring Geet’s famous advice: “Jala do is photo ko, tumhe bohot achha feel hoga.”

Panday, who identifies with Geet’s mantra, shared that this cathartic act helped her release the pent-up frustration and pain she felt at the time. “I was quite young when I did that,” she reflected, emphasizing the importance of finding healthy outlets for emotional distress.

During the discussion, director Vikramaditya Motwane also chimed in, underscoring the need to confront heartbreak. “You have to face it, either by talking to someone or burning photographs,” he suggested, giving a knowing nod to Ananya.

Ananya revealed that she once had an “ex-box,” a collection of items that reminded her of her former partner, which she later burned as a way to move on. Although she no longer resorts to such dramatic measures, she acknowledges that many people can relate to this experience. “It’s a nice way to release your frustration,” she admitted.

When asked how she approaches breakups now, Ananya offered a pragmatic perspective: “Just deal with it. Nothing is permanent. Every feeling is transient. You will figure it out. It will get better, and knowing that is good enough.”

CTRL, directed by Motwane, is set to start streaming on Netflix on October 4, 2024. The film centers around a seemingly perfect influencer couple, Nella and Joe. However, when Joe cheats on Nella, she turns to an AI app to erase him from her life—until the app takes control.

As Ananya continues to inspire her fans with her honesty and relatable experiences, her connection to Geet serves as a reminder of the timeless lessons we can learn from cinema.
