Chinese Health Enthusiasts Embrace Ayurveda at Indian Embassy Event in Beijing

Propagating Ayurveda Globally — A Continuing Mission by Dr. Dhanwantari Jha and Dr.

The Embassy of India in Beijing hosted a highly engaging full-day workshop titled “Ayurveda for Mental Well-Being”, drawing a large audience of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners, university students, mental-health professionals, media personnel, and wellness enthusiasts.

The sessions were led by renowned Ayurveda experts Dr. Dhanwantari Jha (PhD Ayurveda, Kayachikitsa) and Dr. Nidhi Jha (MD Panchakarma), who are known globally for their continuous mission to propagate authentic Ayurveda to international communities — especially in China.

Highlight of the Event

In the morning session,
Dr. Dhanwantari Jha explained in depth:

  • ✓ The causal factors of stress, anxiety & depression
  • ✓ The Ayurvedic understanding of Manasa Roga (mental health disorders)
  • ✓ Integrative solutions with herbo-mineral medicine, Rasayana, and mind-body routines

He emphasized how Ayurveda addresses the mind and body together, restoring emotional harmony rather than merely suppressing symptoms.

In the afternoon session,
Dr. Nidhi Jha presented the role of Panchakarma and specialized therapies in treating mental and psychiatric conditions. She performed a live demonstration of Shirodhara — one of Ayurveda’s most acclaimed therapies for deep relaxation and emotional balance — which captivated the audience.

Participants also experienced Pranayama and Meditation practices, guided by expert Ms. Chen Shuqi from Sidhanta Ayurveda Centre, strengthening the Indo-Chinese wellness bridge.

Deputy Ambassador Abhishek Shukla addressed the gathering, acknowledging Ayurveda’s emergence as an important global healthcare system, especially when combined with yoga to enhance mental & physical well-being.

Ayurveda Gaining Ground in the Land of TCM

China, well-known for its own Traditional Medicine system, has shown a rapidly growing interest in Ayurveda over recent years. Workshops such as these reflect the increasing recognition of Ayurveda as a complementary healing science, resonating strongly with Chinese health philosophy — especially in the domain of mental health and preventive care.

The Embassy highlighted:
“True health arises from harmony between body, mind, and consciousness — a message as relevant today as in ancient times.”
